IMSR® is Resilient Energy

With the growing threat of disruption to critical systems, the value of resilient power plants and electric grids is rising in importance. Conventional nuclear power plants already have demonstrated their reliability and resilience in many situations, such as polar vorticies and other extreme weather events, when other sources of power are forced to shut down. IMSR® power plants improve further on this position as they are “black-start” capable. This feature, prized by grid operators, permits IMSR® power plants to start generating electricity without grid power.
