Terrestrial Energy Inc (TEI) is a developer of Generation IV advanced nuclear power plants that use its proprietary Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®) technology. IMSR® technology represents true innovation in cost reduction, versatility and functionality of nuclear power plants. IMSR® power plants will provide zero-carbon, reliable, dispatchable, cost-competitive electric power and high-grade industrial heat for use in many industrial applications, such as chemical synthesis and desalination, and in so doing extend the application of nuclear energy far beyond electric power markets. We have the potential to make important contributions to industrial competitiveness, energy security, and economic growth. Our deployment will support rapid global decarbonization of the primary energy system by displacing fossil fuel combustion across a broad spectrum. Using an innovative design, and proven and demonstrated molten salt reactor technology, we are engaged with regulators and industrial partners to complete IMSR® engineering and to commission first IMSR® power plants in the late 2020s. Quality Assurance Manager

Senior Vice President, Operations and Engineering

Job Duties

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Operations and Engineering, is primarily responsible for effectively managing all QA aspects of TEI’s Management System to ensure that processes are in compliance with applicable quality standards. Other responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of TEI’s Management System, implement process improvements via a prioritized action plan, and promote adoption of process improvements across the company
  • Focus on continuous improvement for growing and maturing the QA function and Management System
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering Program Manager, other management team members, and staff to implement and improve the Management System documentation
  • Lead internal independent quality assessments and self-assessments
  • Participate in external audits, representing the company’s Management System and associated processes, practices, and work results
  • Organize and facilitate cause assessments (across multiple and diverse technical groups)
  • Provide training for staff in Quality Requirements
  • Work with Supply Chain to establish a systematic, consistent approach for defining QA program requirements for subcontracted services and items, taking into consideration risk to final product
  • Establish a supplier oversight program to assure the subcontracted work meets quality requirements, including: establishing QA program requirements for suppliers, evaluating their capability, planning execution of supplier inspections and verifications, addressing non-conformances, monitoring supplier performance for quality
  • Sustain seamless working interactions with the following groups within TEI: R&D, Supply Chain, Licensing, Engineering, and Project Management (including Project Managers and Planners)
  • Support development and implementation of a Personnel Qualifications and Training Program in alignment with TEI’s Management System
  • Lead and organize contributions to the regulatory applications, specifically related to TEI’s Management System and quality related aspects

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum ten years of work experience in engineering and/or QA in the nuclear industry
  • Working knowledge of the nuclear QA codes and standards (such as CSA N286-12, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, CSA N299 series, CSA N285 and 10CFR50 App B/NQA1) including knowledge in the ASME BPV code
  • Experience and training to qualify as a nuclear lead auditor and root cause investigator
  • Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Supportive of innovative solutions such as digital tools
  • Aptitude for learning and working with various electronic/technology platforms and tools (e.g. e-records/e-procedures)
  • Experience in handling sensitive information and conducting critical interactions with external auditors, and government agencies
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and time management to ensure completion of tasks on a prioritized basis
  • Industry experience in developing and implementing Quality Management systems organizationally, logistically, and within technically complex environments

Assets

  • Graduate degree in Engineering
  • An Ontario Professional Engineering designation or eligibility to attain P.Eng.
  • Experience with databases, digital documentation, data architecture, and integrative digital platforms
  • Experience in developing e-learning/computer-based training
  • Experience in supervising technical staff
