Terrestrial Energy IMSR Advanced Reactor Selected by Canadian and U.S. Regulators for Joint Review

Oakville, Ontario and New York – December 4, 2019 – The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) have selected Terrestrial Energy’s Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®) for the first joint technical review of an advanced, non-light water nuclear reactor technology.

The selection of Terrestrial Energy’s IMSR® for joint technical review follows the August 2019 Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between the CNSC and the NRC that further expands the agencies’ cooperation on activities associated with advanced reactor and SMR technologies.

Frazer-Nash to Support Terrestrial Energy with Nuclear Graphite Moderator Construction

OAKVILLE, ON – November 26, 2019 – Frazer-Nash Consultancy (Frazer-Nash) and Terrestrial Energy have signed a contract for engineering services related to the fabrication of the graphite moderator, a key component in Terrestrial Energy’s Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®), a Generation IV advanced nuclear power plant.

Frazer-Nash has world-leading expertise in the performance of graphite moderators, providing consulting services to the United Kingdom government and the operators of the nation’s fleet of advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGRs).

Terrestrial Energy USA Appoints Former TVA, Exelon COO as President

Terrestrial Energy USA has appointed as President Charles G. “Chip” Pardee, who will help lead the company’s IMSR® development and deployment in the United States.

Mr. Pardee was formerly chief operating officer of the Tennessee Valley Authority and Exelon Generation.

Terrestrial Energy Joins Generation IV International Forum

Terrestrial Energy has been admitted to the Generation IV International Forum (GIF), currently the only private sector company with this status.

The GIF is a multi-national program established in 2001 to support co-operative research and development of next-generation nuclear reactor technologies.
