Oakville, Ontario – December 7, 2021 – The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) has awarded L3Harris Technologies its 2021 Innovation Award for its work developing a simulator for Terrestrial Energy’s Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®), a Generation IV nuclear power plant.
Oakville, Ontario, Canada – November 30, 2021 – Terrestrial Energy and Siemens Energy Canada have signed a contract for the manufacturing and supply of steam turbines and other balance-of-plant equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and motor drive systems, for the Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®), a Generation IV nuclear power plant.
The IMSR® generates steam for power generation at standard utility class temperature and pressure, and from systems that are isolated from its nuclear reactor.
CHARLOTTE, NC – November 24, 2021 – Terrestrial Energy USA was awarded a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support licensing and commercialisation of its Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®), a Generation IV nuclear power plant.
Oakville, Ontario – October 26, 2021 – Terrestrial Energy has awarded BWXT Canada Ltd. engineering design contracts for steam generators and heat exchangers for use in the Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR®), a Generation IV nuclear power plant.
This animation shows the interior of the IMSR®400 power plant. The IMSR®400 power plant uses twin Integral Molten Salt Reactors (IMSR®s), which operate at nearly 50 percent higher thermal efficiency than conventional reactors for better performance.
This animation shows the exterior of the IMSR®400 power plant. The IMSR®400 has the capacity to generate 390 MW (net) of clean, reliable and carbon-free electric power using twin reactors and generators.
Oakville, Ont. – October 19, 2021 – Terrestrial Energy in a statement today congratulated Ontario Power Generation (OPG) on receiving an extension to the Site Preparation License for its Darlington New Nuclear Project.
