SNL: Canada awards Terrestrial C$5.7M to build mock-up of modular reactor design

From SNL:

The government of Canada has awarded C$5.7 million to Terrestrial Energy to build an electrically-heated non-nuclear mockup of a small modular, integral molten salt reactor.

Terrestrial Energy, North America’s first “generation four” nuclear reactor developer to undertake the financial risk of initiating a regulatory engagement, announced March 4 that it has been awarded the grant from the government-funded Sustainable Development Technology Canada foundation. The grant will support Terrestrial Energy’s pre-commercial activities for the mockup of its small modular IMSR® which will test and demonstrate the new technology. It plans to build the mockup within 30 months.
